Display Manager

Display Manager allows adding, editing and removing Display and Subsidplay screens within DewesoftX. This can be done both in Measure and Analyze mode. Click on the Displays button to open it.

Each display or subdisplay has:

  • Display name
  • Icon
  • Monitor - the (sub)display can only be attached or previewed on the selected monitor

To add a (sub)display, click on the plus button. The Add display window will pop-up:

Importing Displays from Setup

Displays can be imported from a setup selected in the menu.

  • From setup or data file by channel name (will import the same display and link the channels with the same name to the corresponding widgets)
  • From setup or data file by channel index (will import the same display and link the channels with the same index to the corresponding widgets)

When one of the options is selected, a window will appear - you will select the reference setup file.

The name of the selected setup file that you selected and all the displays that can be imported from it will be visible when you go to Add a (sub)display:

When a display is selected, it will be automatically added to the Manage displays window.

Options in Measure Mode

While in Measure mode, a dropdown menu with the following options will appear if you right click on a display:

  • Rebuild (Display) - this option will rebuild your display to the originally generated display. This means that all your manual changes will be reverted.
  • Rebuild all - rebuilds all displays
  • Rename - renames the selected Display.
  • Duplicate - duplicates the selected Display. All widgets will retain their assigned channels.

  • Additional
    • Convert to Report - converts to a Report display
    • Move to - add the display to a display group or remove it from one (Move out))
    • Create Multiple Displays - creates a display with the same widget layout, but channels assigned are customisable
    • Save as Template - to be used in future projects

Rebuild Display

Displays can be rebuilt to their initial state. This is useful in cases of changing or adding some channels in Channel setup. Channels are not updated by default, which is why displays need to be rebuilt.

If you rebuild the display, it will change to its initial configuration. If additional widgets were added and/or the layout was modified, those changes will be undone.

Example - FFT analysis:

  • One channel is added for FFT analysis:

  • Predefined display for FFT analyzer with selected channel applied:

  • Going back to Measure and selecting two more channels will not automatically update the display - the display needs to be rebuilt:

  • Rebuilt display:
