CMP Quick start guide

Add CMP plugin to project

The first thing that we need to do is enable the plugin. We do that by going into settings. In the Devices tab we click the plus button, find cmp and add it.

Npcap not found (error)

The error message “Npcap not found” means that DewesoftX cannot find the Npcap instalation on your PC. Without Npcap the CMP capture plugin will not work, so in this case the instalation needs to be done manualy.

Example of missing Npcap instalation file can be found on link.

Add CMP network

The next step is to define a network. The CMP protocol requires that all devices operating within the same network are synchronized. In this context a ‘network’ is defined by the Ethernet card on your computer. Dewesoft uses those networks to ensure that the devices are synchronized.

Sync settings

In the Local system tab we can define the Synchronization settings. If the device supports PTP synchronization we can select the network as the Time source and then we specify the corresponding PTP protocol.

Channel Setup

In the channel setup we have a grid in which you define all the properties of the Capture Modules and its corresponding interfaces. You can add the devices manually using the Add capture module button.

Then you need to set the properties of the capture module such as the Device id and its network.

After that we can add Interfaces with the Add interface button. Then we can specify the properties of the interface: Id, Stream Id and the Data type.

The current supported data types are: CAN, CAN-FD and LIN.

We can also automatically detect the capture modules and it’s corresponding interfaces. You can add them automatically by pressing the Scan for interfaces button.
